Trade in My Old Coffee Routine with New Subscription
Where Coffee Comes In
Part of being a blogger or someone that works from home is certainly coffee. Why? It could be that coffee provides caffeine necessary to wake up the mind or simply keep going. Cafes or coffee shops are also great places to get wifi so that you can work.
I’ve found that frequenting specialty coffee cafes fosters acquiring the taste for something elevated. What I mean is, you will no longer be satisfied with commercial grade coffee. You’ll want something with better balance or interesting flavors.
The curiosity of tasting coffee of different origins led me to try out Trade Co. Now if you’re like me, you’ve seen this company in the US recently. Their ads have certainly popped up in my news feed or on our company’s IG at an increasing rate. With me working from home more, I find myself grinding more. No, I don’t mean that I’m working harder, although I am. I mean that I’m going to coffee shops less and I’m making my own coffee more.
My First Trade Coffee Order
Unboxing Panther Coffee from Trade
This is really where Trade has entered. I went online to www.drinktrade.com, explored my options, and I had two pathways to follow. I could either set some search filters and narrow down a coffee that fit the bill or I could take a quiz on my taste and preparation method and boom! Trade would give me a coffee recommendation. I actually really liked both pathways to their amazing selection of coffees.
Trade deals with the top 50 coffee roasters in the US and helps tell their stories. We’re talking about award-winning roasters on the east coast like La Colombe or their west coast rivals Stumptown. East coast, west coast, and roasters in between are being offered by Trade (see here https://www.drinktrade.com/roasters).
I’m not sure how the business arrangement is between the coffee roasters and Trade, but that doesn’t matter much to me. All I know is that after I placed my order with Trade, it was a day or so later that I got an email saying that my bag of beans was being roasted by Panther from Miami, FL. I thought this was really cool. Freshness of beans can make a big difference in the flavor of the final cup. Now do I need to have beans from roasting 72 hours later? Probably not. I haven’t developed my palette that well to know anyway. However, it is nice to know that I’m not getting the leftovers from 2 months ago either.
After a few days of the roast degassing (a process where newly roasted coffee beans rest so that they can release CO2), I received my bag of beans straight from the roaster. I got a little card telling me the story of the roaster as well as a clever piece of marketing. Trade gives its customers a BINGO card so that you can attempt to collect stickers in pursuit of a free bag of coffee for completing a line. Pretty fun! If you’re into that sort of thing that is, which me and the missus are.
Trade Coffee Subscription

Trade also offers coffee subscriptions where you can get 15% off and free shipping on reasonably priced blends or go for higher-end coffees for $15-22 per 12 ounce bag. I haven’t gotten a subscription yet. In fact, I haven’t quite finished my first bag of coffee. I’ll be ordering again though, because I really like their service and I love the offerings they have.
I know I can go on there and find something interesting and most likely something I’ve never tried before. I don’t know about you, but I’m into that. If you are, I’ll leave a promo code (http://s.trdcfe.me/BC9JN) that you can use to give them a try. You get 30% off your first coffee in a subscription and I’ll get $25 credited to my account. In fact, once you become a customer, I think they’ll give you a code as well to promote the good news about Trade. At least that's what happened for me.
I won’t stop buying bags of specialty coffee on my travels. In fact, I have recently started a green coffee sourcing company in Singapore (https://www.arabicatradinghouse.com/) that I’ll buy coffee back from roasting partners. However, I won’t stop buying from Trade either. They compliment the selection and ease of purchase that I’m looking for when getting good coffee.
Thanks for reading and let me know your favorite coffee region or roaster in the comment section. I'm curious to know what you're sipping.
